Canadian actor Keanu Reeves donated 70% of his royalties for filming the first film in the sci-fi franchise The Matrix to the fund to fight leukemia, the Daily Mail reported.

In 1999, his younger sister, Kim, had been battling leukemia for eight years. At that time, the care of the patient and her rehabilitation fell on his shoulders. 10 years after the diagnosis, the disease went into remission, now Kim is 55 years old.

Later, Reeves founded his charitable foundation to help patients with cancer.
