India declares mourning over death of 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves' singer

The Indian authorities have declared two days of national mourning due to the death of singer and actress Lata Mangeshkar.

The woman died in a Mumbai hospital where she had been ill with the coronavirus since Tuesday, Variety reported.

In January, the actress was hospitalized with pneumonia. Due to the death of Mangeshkar, the government of India decided to half-mast the state flags.

Lata Mangeshkar became famous for her film songs. The Indian media dubbed the artist the "Queen of Melody".
