As sources clarified, the service at Westminster Abbey will be "radically streamlined," as the Prince of Wales advocates a more modern monarchy. It will be open to " different community groups and faiths," the source noted. The coronation of Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953, cost the government about £46 million at today's rate, but Charles backed a cheaper and better quality event.

Details about the secret preparation of the coronation plan became known after Queen of Great Britain declared Prince Charles's wife, Camilla, queen consort. She expressed the hope that citizens would give the future queen the same support that they now give to Elizabeth herself.
