The Shawshank Redemption bible sold at auction for $440,000

Bible from the 'The Shawshank Redemption' movie was sold at auction in London for 387.5 thousand pounds ($440 thousand ),  Business Insider reported.

In the film's climax, after Dufresne has escaped from prison, the warden discovers that his secret illegal bookkeeping accounts have been switched with the Bible.

The lot was the only one used on the set because the process of cutting the outline of the hammer required precision and was labor intensive.

'The Shawshank Redemption' premiered in 1994.  The plot was based on the novella by Stephen King, "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption". The main roles were played by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.
