The Macallan has released its second edition of a series of rare single malt Scotch whiskeys that highlight "the history of the distillery's pioneers and their legacy" to mark its 200th anniversary.
Tales of The Macallan Volume II is a "tribute" to Alexander Reid, founder of The Macallan. Reid founded the distillery on the Easter Elchis estate, Speyside, Scotland, in 1824, "resisting the introduction of larger, larger stills," instead "preferring patience to achieve the uncompromising quality for which The Macallan continues to be renowned."
Tales of The Macallan Volume II was distilled in 1949 and bottled in 2022. There are only 334 bottles of this 73-year-old whiskey. The bottle itself was created by French crystal manufacturer Lalique.
“This rare and unique single malt whisky, displaying beautiful tones of bronze oak and subtle red hues that reflect the original meaning of Alexander Reid's surname in Scots - The Red One, has incredible complexity achieved through age and patient maturation,” said whiskey creator Euan Kennedy.
The price of this unique whiskey is $97,505.
