Astonishment, fantasy, naivety, and breakthrough. These four words can describe the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2024 collection.
The event marked the brand's 40th anniversary, with appearances from longtime colleagues and friends including Debbie Harry, Sofia Coppola, Dakota Fanning, Chloë Sevigny, and many more. The collection proved that Jacobs is still at the top of his game and the fashion industry.
Across 47 looks, Jacobs embodied the idea of at once “simple” clothing that looks fantastic and glamorous, with impeccably tailored oversized silhouettes that nod to 1960s housewives, modern street, and children's nostalgia for paper dolls.
They were all winners, but highlights included stiff-knit jumpers with costume jewelry brooches, oversized tartan Bermuda shorts with rolled long seams and luxe leather oxfords, 60s-inspired skirt suits, shift dresses and shift coats mixed together with leather bags and soft Mary Jane shoes.
From the XXL rounded sleeves to the exaggerated busts and hips, everything was big, but with the utmost fashionable restraint.
