As Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola watched his side take on Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, his watch made headlines around the world, CNN reports.
According to TNT Sports, Guardiola wore an extravagant Richard Mille watch worth $1.26 million on his wrist.
According to the designer, the watch, limited to 50 pieces, is the lightest mechanical watch ever created, weighing just 18.83 grams, including the strap.
They were originally designed for 22-time Grand Slam tennis champion Rafael Nadal to be worn while playing, so each piece was carefully designed to minimize its weight.
The watch's monobloc back is made from carbon fiber, making it shock- and scratch-resistant and incredibly lightweight, while the titanium base plate is secured to the case by four steel cables, each just 0.35mm in diameter.
Guardiola often receives praise for his style off the field, and his love of fashion dates back to the beginning of his football career; in 1993, while playing for Barcelona, he walked the catwalk at the show of Spanish designer Antonio Miró.
