YEREVAN. – Two-time Olympic champion Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko has arrived in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, where he is preparing to perform in the show titled Kings of the Ice, which will be held in November.

Plushenko, immediately after his arrival, met with reporters at the hotel, and spoke about his future performance, and the prospects for figure skating in Armenia.

“This isn’t the first time that I’m in Armenia,” he noted. “The Armenian people are very close to me; I have many friends from Armenia.”

The double Olympic champion noted that even though he is always ready to carry out his plan to open a figure skating school in Armenia, the respective conditions are still missing in the country.

“I’ve said many times that I’ll do everything for the Armenian people, the children,” Plushenko said.

“If there will be such opportunities, we’ll always find time to practice with the children.”
Evgeni Plushenko, speaking to the NEWS.am STYLE reporters, stated that he will head back to Russia on Tuesday evening. He added, however, that after the aforesaid show on November 20, he plans to stay one extra day in Yerevan.
