Popular series ‘Suits’ to be continued

11:53, February 2

NBC is moving forward with its planned pilot for hit series Suits—but this time set in Los Angeles.

The network announced that it has hired Victory Mahoney to direct Suits: Los Angeles, a spinoff of the former USA Network series that found a second—and third—life on Netflix after ending in 2019.

Suits reruns racked up nearly 60 billion minutes watched in 2023 and spent three months atop the Nielsen streaming charts after premiering on the streamer in June.

The new pilot itself is not a spinoff or reboot, as it will feature entirely new characters and will be set in Los Angeles, unlike Suits, which was set in New York; the series was actually filmed in Toronto, Canada.

According to NBC's description, the plot revolves around "Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York" who "reinvented himself representing Los Angeles's most powerful clients. His firm is at a crisis point, and to survive, he must accept a role that he has despised throughout his career."

Filming is scheduled to begin next month in Toronto.

NBC has not yet released the cast list.

“Ted is surrounded by a stellar cast of characters who test their loyalty to both Ted and each other, while they can’t help but mix up their personal and professional lives,” reads the plot description for the pilot.

None of the original series' stars appear in the pilot script, but there's always a chance they could appear in the future.
