David Beckham is suing actor Mark Wahlberg and the founders of F45, alleging fraud over a deal with the fitness brand that cost him $10.5 million in profits.
Beckham initially teamed up with golf legend Greg Norman to file a lawsuit against F45, but a judge advised them to file separate lawsuits.
The former football star's company, David Beckham Ventures Ltd (DBVL],) claims Wahlberg's firm, Mark Wahlberg Investment Group (MWIG), along with gym group F45 founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch, "tricked" Beckham into becoming F45's global ambassador in 2020.
According to The Sun, DB Ventures Ltd claims shares in F45 were promised to Beckham's firm in early 2022 as part of the deal. However, Beckham suffered considerable financial losses when the promised shares were not delivered until their value had fallen from approximately $12 to $3 per share. His legal team claims the delay cost him up to $10.5 million in potential profits.
In response, Wahlberg and F45 have denied allegations of “fraudulent conduct” and are seeking to have the lawsuit dismissed, arguing that DB Ventures Ltd is shirking responsibility.
According to The Daily Mail, Beckham's firm previously sought damages totaling $18.85 million from F45. However, the new lawsuit seeks damages directly from MWIG and F45 creators Rob Deutsch and Adam Gilchrist.
