Ricky Martin had been reported for alleged domestic violence, but the victim was unknown because his identity was protected by Law 54. But the anonymity was revealed to the light by Eric Martin, another brother of the singer. And the complainant is Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, nephew of the artist Marca reported.

According to the victim, Ricky Martin exercised physical and psychological attacks on him in the relationship they had for seven months. Now knowing that the complainant is his own nephew, the penalty that the artist would face is totally different.

The sentence that Ricky Martin would face—if it is proven that he is the author of this crime—is 50 years in prison. This is what Puerto Rico's laws state when it comes to incest.

The spokesman affirmed that the relationship between Ricky Martin and his 21-year-old nephew ended a couple of months ago, and this media explains that the violence for which the artist is accused occurred because "he would not have accepted the separation," and therefore began to call him insistently and to persecute him.

Both the singer and his team of lawyers are preparing the defense against the accusation of his nephew. The trial will begin on July 21, that day Dennis Yadiel Sanchez will answer questions before the judge.

Those handling Ricky Martin's defense claim that the nephew has recently been denounced by a woman who denounced him for harassment after he threatened to destroy her life.

"We are confident that when the true facts come to light in this matter, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated," the singer's law firm says in a statement.

From the same site they wanted to deny that the magistrate had placed a restraining order for this alleged domestic violence: "The allegations against Ricky Martin, leading to a protection order, are completely false".
