Kobe Bryant's NBA championship ring sells for nearly $1M at auction

17:07, April 2

Kobe Bryant's 2000 NBA championship ring sold for a record $927,200 at Goldin Auctions.

The owner of five of these rings, which were a shining testament to his storied career, ordered an additional diamond-encrusted replica of the ring to give to his father, Joe Bryant.

The late Lakers legend was coming off a nail-biting six-game series win over the Indiana Pacers in 2000. Kobe Bryant suffered a sprained ankle in games two and three, but showed no signs of discomfort. In a historic Game 4, Bryant played 47 of 53 minutes and scored 28 points as the Lakers took home the coveted championship rings.

The championship ring is made of 14-karat gold, weighs 59.6 grams, and is set with 40 diamonds. According to Sportico, the word "Lakers" appears in the center in purple enamel, while the words "World" and "Champions" surround the ring.
