A Calvin Klein advertising poster featuring singer FKA Twigs has been banned in the Unite Kingdom (UK), deeming it "offensive" and "overly sexual."
The poster shows the 36-year-old singer wearing a denim shirt that half covers her body, leaving the sides of her buttocks and part of her breasts exposed, with the caption: “Calvins or nothing,” The Daily Mail reports.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received two complaints that the images were “overly sexualized,” “offensive,” and irresponsible because they “objectified women.” Defending the ad, Calvin Klein said it was similar to what the company has produced in the UK for many years. The fashion brand's executives said FKA Twigs, whom they described as a "confident woman," had collaborated with Calvin Klein and approved the photo before it was published.
However, the ASA considered that "the composition of the image focuses viewers' attention on the model's body rather than on the advertised clothing." “The ad used nudity and focused on FKA Twigs' physical features to the extent that she was portrayed as a stereotypical sex object. We therefore concluded that the advertising was irresponsible and likely to be offensive," it added.

But the ASA was not bothered by advertising posters featuring model Kendall Jenner following complaints on the same grounds.

The department said the photos did not focus on her body in a way that would portray her as a sex object, and the level of nudity did not exceed what people would expect from a lingerie ad.

Interestingly, the ban followed a very explicit Calvin Klein commercial in which “Bear” star Jeremy Allen White shows off his toned torso in an advertisement for Calvin Klein underwear. However, the British apparently do not perceive the naked male body as a sexual object.
