Cher will perform at amfAR's annual gala in Cannes on May 23, Variety reports.
“I have such wonderful memories of being invited by my friend Elizabeth Taylor to host one of the first amfAR events in Cannes,” said the legendary singer. “I am extremely proud to be returning for the 30th anniversary of this event and to continue to support the incredible work of this organization. It will be a special evening."
Since amfAR International Chair Elizabeth Taylor hosted the first amfAR Cannes Gala at the Moulin de Mougins in 1993, the charity prize has become one of the festival's most coveted tickets and has raised $264 million for amfAR's research programs in area of HIV/AIDS.
Cher co-chaired the event with Taylor in 1996. In 2015, at a gala concert, the singer was awarded the amfAR Inspiration Award.
“We are thrilled to have Cher back with us in Cannes for the 30th edition. Cher has been a staunch supporter of amfAR and people living with HIV/AIDS, and we are very proud that she will be with us again for what promises to be an evening to remember,” said amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost.
