The hard rock band Kiss has sold its song catalog to a Swedish music investor for more than $300 million. Also, Stockholm-based Pophouse Entertainment bought the band's brand, image, and intellectual property, the BBC reported.
The sale marks the band's withdrawal from live performances on their End of the Road world tour.
Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen also had sold their back catalogs for multimillion-dollar sums—for $500 million and $450 million, respectively.
Pophouse will own not only the music rights, but the entire Kiss brand, including intellectual property sales, allowing the Swedish firm to generate future content using artificial intelligence.
The company, which previously collaborated with Kiss on a digital avatar project, also produced Abba Voyage concerts in a similar manner.
Kiss was founded in 1973 by vocalists Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. The original lineup, which also included Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, became famous for their iconic face paint.
