The first footage of the biopic about Michael Jackson was shown at CinemaCon. Lionsgate closed the presentation with a video from Michael, which will premiere next spring and is still in production.
The trailer includes footage of Michael's childhood with his brothers, as the Jackson 5 grimly headed to yet another show on a snowy morning. Their energetic father, Joe Jackson, is played by recent Oscar nominee Colman Domingo. You can also see Jafar Jackson, Michael's real-life nephew, who plays his famous uncle in the movie.
As Michael Jackson, Jaafar says that when he's not on stage, "everything feels... foreign to me."
Also in the picture is Nia Long, who plays the boys' mother, Katherine. She says, "You have a light inside you, Michael... and you have to let it shine."
Also as part of the presentation, it was announced that 30 songs will be featured in the film.
Michael will hit theaters on April 18, 2025.
