Lebanese haute couture designer of Armenian origin, Krikor Jabotian has commemorated the Armenian Genocide of 1915 quoting Sayat Nova.

Yesterday was better than today, and I am weary of tomorrows, man cannot always be the same, and I am tired of any play.”- Sayat Nova once said : “My suffering has gone beyond measure.”

The world-known designer added. "As we commemorate the Armenian Genocide, we hold these words close, vowing to never forget the lessons of history."

In his interview for the column "ArmenՅԱՆs/Armenians" by NEWS.am STYLE Krikor had recalled the history of his ancestors, who had survived the Armenian Genocide. 

"During the Armenian Genocide of 1915, my great grandfather fled Sis and settled in Karantina, Beirut, where he met my grandmother. He was a self-made man, establishing himself from scratch like most other Armenian immigrants. The correct spelling of my surname is Tchapoutian, but Lebanese officials documented it as Jabotian. Tchapoutian in Turkish translates to fabric leftovers, funnily cementing my vocation as a fashion designer," said Jabotian.
