Forbes: America's Richest Self-Made Female Celebrities

20:21, May 29

It's been a record year for the rich and famous on Forbes' 2024 list of America's Richest Self-Made Women, with 15 celebrities on the 100-person list collectively worth $13.3 billion, up 23% from last year. They include pop stars, TV personalities and producers, from Beyoncé and Madonna to Ellen DeGeneres, Judge Judy, and Reese Witherspoon.

Newcomer Katy Perry made this list for the first time, with a nine-figure deal. The superstar sold her master recordings and publishing rights to Litmus Music last fall for $225 million. This deal was one of the biggest music sales of 2023 and included five of Perry's six studio albums.

Taylor Swift, who was first named a billionaire by Forbes last October, is now even richer thanks to her ongoing Eras tour. Her net worth is estimated at $1.3 billion, up from $1.1 billion last fall. In 2023, her Eras Tour generated over $1 billion in ticket sales. The tour is expected to generate another $1 billion in ticket sales by the time it wraps in December.

Of the 15 stars on the list, seven made their fortunes in the music industry, four in film and television, and three in cosmetics and skin care—including singer Rihanna, whose wealth is largely due to her 50% stake in cosmetics Fenty Beauty line. Tennis legend Serena Williams is the only professional athlete on the list. She has earned $95 million in prize money during her career. She has invested in dozens of companies and founded her own venture capital firm, Serena Ventures. Her fortune is estimated at $340 million.

The threshold to make the list—and stay on it—is high: applicants had to be worth at least $300 million to make the top 100.

The youngest celebrity on the list is 26-year-old Kylie Jenner. At the opposite end of the spectrum are Barbra Streisand, 82, and Judy Sheindlin, 81.

The top ten are:

Oprah Winfrey

Net worth: $3 billion.

Kim Kardashian

Rihanna

Taylor Swift

Kylie Jenner
