Game of Thrones fans have reason to celebrate: first, news of an upcoming film, and now a hint of a new collaboration between creator George R.R. Martin and one of the show's original stars.
Martin hinted at a potential project with Maisie Williams, the actress who captivated audiences as Arya Stark in the HBO adaptation of his cult series Game of Thrones.
In a post on his website Not a Blog, Martin shared details of a summer trip to London. But what may have caused the most excitement among fans was the short note at the end of his post.
"We also met Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta and talked about... well, no, best not to go into details, don't want to jinx it. But it could be fun," the 76-year-old writer wrote. But Martin didn't reveal any details, so it's unclear whether the mystery project will be tied to the Game of Thrones universe.
Earlier this month, news broke that Warner Bros. had begun laying the groundwork for “at least one film” set in George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world.
While the project is still in its infancy—without a director, cast, or script—sources say Warner Bros. is excited about bringing the rich stories of the Seven Kingdoms to the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite the mixed reception to Game of Thrones’ final season, the show’s massive success has already spawned multiple spinoffs, including HBO’s House of the Dragons.
