A charming violin, a dance of light and shadow, loud ovations; these words can convey the atmosphere of Sunday evening at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan—but they are not able to exhaust all its magic.
On this day, the stage turned into a space of subtle emotions and seething passions, where the violin of Samvel Yervinyan became the voice. His concert, symbolically called “The Magic Violin,” justified its name—the music rang, sang, cried, laughed and, it seemed, breathed together with the listeners.

This magic opened with the shimmering chords of “Come, My Nightingale”—a work based on the poems of Raphael Patkanian, imbued with bright melancholy and love for his native land. Yervinyan's violin sounded like the voice of Armenia itself—gentle, inviting, sometimes affectionate, like the morning wind, sometimes proud and strong, like the echo of mountain peaks.
And then the concert turned into a kaleidoscope of moods and styles. Khachatur Avetisyan with his "Blue Bird" sounded, giving hope and lightness, the Argentine tango El Choclo, seething with passion and temperament, and, of course, the melodies of Charles Aznavour, in which love, pain, and tenderness are intertwined into an eternal story.
A special place in this evening was “occupied” by Nostalgia—Yervinyan's own composition, his heartbeat music, his declaration of love for Armenia, its mountains, its air, its people. In these sounds there was the melancholy of a wanderer and the warmth of someone who always remains true to his roots.
This concert can be called a real musical journey—sometimes romantic, sometimes dramatic, sometimes full of enthusiasm, and sometimes enveloping with aching sadness. Each composition sounded as if it was played not by the strings of a violin, but by the soul itself. And it seemed that the entire hall, holding its breath, listened not only to the music, but also to the silence between the notes—because there was magic in it, too.
