Zoe Saldana broke down in tears after winning her first Oscar for Emilia Perez.
The 46-year-old actress beat out Monica Barbaro (The Unknown), Ariana Grande (Wicked), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), and Isabella Rossellini (The Clave) for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Rita in the aforesaid film.
Saldana couldn't hold back her tears even on her way to the stage, accepting the award from last year's winner in the same category, Devin Joy Randolph of The Leftovers.
And in her emotional speech, Zoe thanked her mother.
“Mommy! My mom is here!' My whole family is here... I am overwhelmed by this honor, thank you to the academy for recognizing the quiet heroism and strength in a woman like Rita and for talking about strong women, my fellow nominees, the love and community you have offered me is truly a gift and I will give back, thank you so much."

She then thanked the director, saying, "Jacques, you are my favorite character in my life.”
Saldana added that she "shares this award" with her cast and crew of Emilia Perez, and thanked Netflix's Ted Sarandos and some other executives.
"To my mom, to my dad, to my sisters, everything brave and outrageous and good I have ever done in my life is because of you. Thank you so much. And to my husband, with his beautiful hair," she added.

"My grandmother came to this country in 1961—I am the proud child of immigrant parents. I'm the first Dominican American to win an Oscar, and I know I won't be the last," she added. "The fact that I'm winning for a role where I got to sing and speak Spanish, my grandmother, if she were here, she would be so happy, this is for my grandmother. Thank you so much."
