Billionaire Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, have filed a motion in California Superior Court seeking to recover $182,374 in attorney fees and $8,182 in legal costs from Lauren’s brother, Michael Sanchez.

The request follows their successful use of California’s Anti-SLAPP law—a legal tool designed to dismiss baseless lawsuits early and recover mandatory legal fees. Lauren’s legal team accuses Michael of conducting a “multi-year campaign of harassment” in hopes of securing an undeserved financial settlement.

The family feud dates back to 2019, when intimate messages and photos exposing Bezos and Lauren’s affair—while she was still married—surfaced in the media. The tabloid National Enquirer threatened to publish explicit content, but Bezos preemptively revealed the details himself. Michael Sanchez was accused of leaking these materials; he denied sharing any “below-the-belt” photos but did not deny leaking other information.

In 2020, Michael filed a defamation suit against Bezos, but the court ruled in Bezos’s favor. Bezos was awarded $218,385 in legal fees from Michael in 2021, though the legal battle has continued.

In response, Michael Sanchez called the couple “liars and cheaters,” accused the justice system of corruption, and claimed victory in the ongoing dispute.
