Yerevan has become one of over 150 cities worldwide that has hosted the Viksit Bharat Run 2025, a global running initiative organized by the Government of India. The local event was held at the initiative of the Embassy of India in Armenia, bringing together dozens of participants in a celebration of fitness, unity, and international friendship.

"This is a run for the developed India, which is our goal. By 2047 India wants to become a developed country and for that we are taking all around measures, but these are sporting events, that bring people together. So, the Government of India decided to organize it in more than 150 cities of the world, and we are a part of that global initiative. We decided to bring together the youth of India and Armenia and ensure that everyone runs together,” said Ms. Nilakshi Saha Sinha, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Armenia.

According to the Ambassador, events like this help increase harmony and warmth among participants, while also promoting physical culture.
The run also welcomed official guests, including Hasmik Avagyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia. She praised the initiative as a meaningful contribution to the growing relationship between Armenia and India, this time through the lens of sport.

More than 100 participants, both amateur and professional, took part in the race. Winners in the men’s and women’s categories were awarded trophies and medals, while all participants received commemorative medals as a token of appreciation.
