Kim Kardashian is back in the spotlight—this time not for her fashion or business ventures, but for her acting… and not in a good way. Her new Hulu series All’s Fair, which premiered November 4, has been widely panned, with critics particularly harsh on Kardashian’s performance as the head of a women-only divorce law firm.
Despite co-starring with heavyweights like Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, Nisi Nash, and Tayanna Taylor, the show has struggled to impress. Ratings are abysmal: 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and 11% on Metacritic.
Quick Facts About All’s Fair
The first three episodes are already streaming on Hulu; new episodes drop weekly on Tuesdays.
Kim and her mother Kris Jenner serve as executive producers.
Kardashian’s character is inspired by famed divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who represented Kim in her divorces from Kanye West and Kris Humphries.
Critical Reaction:
The Guardian: Lucy Mangan called the show “existentially dreadful” and described Kardashian’s acting as “lifeless and pointless.” She noted that other actors struggled too, suggesting no one seemed to know how to perform their roles.
The Times: Ben Dowell slammed the show as potentially “the worst drama in television history,” criticizing Ryan Murphy’s attempt at a feminist tale of women lawyers avenging themselves on wealthy men. According to Dowell, Kardashian’s portrayal was far from convincing.
The Telegraph: Ed Power gave it one star, calling the series “a crime against television” and noting that Kardashian “lacks charisma and screen presence,” though he added that the cast as a whole fared poorly.
The Hollywood Reporter: Angie Han labeled Kim’s acting “stiff and soulless, with no genuine moments,” pointing out dull or overly vulgar dialogue.
USA Today: Kelly Lawler went even further, calling it “the worst show of the year” and comparing the dialogue unfavorably to ChatGPT scripts from two years ago, while claiming Kardashian’s delivery “doesn’t grant her the title of actress.”
This comes after Kardashian received more favorable reviews for her work in Murphy’s American Horror Story: Delicate, which earned a 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising her ability to channel a “girlish, Hollywood PR vibe” into a compelling character.
Ryan Murphy, known for hits like Glee, American Horror Story, 9-1-1, and Pose, has a history of mixed critical reception: some of his shows are celebrated, others heavily criticized—especially those based on real-life events.
With All’s Fair facing such brutal reviews, it remains to be seen if Kim Kardashian’s acting career can survive the heat—or if this marks a turning point in her Hollywood ambitions.
