Balmain has named Antonin Tron as its new creative director, continuing the brand’s “major creative reboot” in 2026.
The experienced French designer, who first gained international attention in 2016 with the launch of his own brand Atlein, will present his first collection for Balmain in March during the Fall/Winter 2026 season. Tron last showcased an Atlein collection at Paris Fashion Week for Fall 2025.
“Balmain has an incredibly inspiring history. At its core, the house embodies savoir-faire, culture, sensuality, and elegance—a fashion that shines, precise and bold,” Tron told WWD.
After launching Atlein, Tron received the First Collections Prize at the ANDAM Awards in 2018 and quickly attracted prestigious wholesale clients, including Bergdorf Goodman (New York), Ikram (Chicago), The Webster (Miami), Galeries Lafayette (Paris), Boon the Shop (Seoul), and Net-a-Porter online.
He initially gained recognition for draped jersey dresses and sensual designs, and in recent years has also worked with sculptural clothing and outerwear. Tron became more widely known in 2024 after collaborating with Kylie Jenner’s brand Khy, creating collections focused primarily on dresses.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where he studied alongside Demna and Glenn Martens, Tron began his career in menswear at Louis Vuitton before moving into womenswear at Givenchy and Balenciaga, working under creative directors Nicolas Ghesquière, Alexander Wang, and Demna. He has also collaborated with design teams at Saint Laurent.
At Balmain, Tron will be responsible for injecting new energy into the fashion house, which last year re-entered the fragrance market through a licensing agreement with Estée Lauder.
