70-year-old Kris Jenner opened up on the On Purpose podcast with Jay Shetty, reflecting on the lessons she’s learned from each of her six children. When talking about her only son, 38-year-old Rob, she shared the emotional reaction of her husband Robert Kardashian Sr.’s Armenian family to his birth.

According to Jenner, her husband’s relatives “celebrated like it was New Year’s” when they found out a boy had been born. “Rob brought so much joy. But most importantly—he was a boy. Robert Kardashian Sr. came from a large Armenian family, and from day one, they prayed that we would have a son,” she recalled. “They kept saying, ‘We hope it’s a boy! It will be Robert Jr.!’”

Before Rob’s arrival, Jenner already had three daughters and joked about the repeated experience: “And again, a girl… and again, a girl…”

When Rob was finally born, the joy was immense. “All the Armenians were just cheering. My father- and mother-in-law were over the moon, and so were all their friends. My mother-in-law ran to the hospital and gave me a beautiful diamond brooch. It was truly festive, like New Year’s,” she said.

Jenner added that witnessing the family’s cultural traditions was particularly touching. “When Robert was born, the Armenian side of the family really ‘switched on’ in our home: they cooked Armenian dishes, tried to teach the kids Armenian—though not very successfully,” she laughed. “But it was fun—learning a new culture and finally giving the family the son they’d been hoping for.”

She noted that Rob’s birth was a special experience, teaching her about the significance of a “male heir” in the family. “He taught me a lot, including what it means to the family to have the ‘head’—because I had a boy. It was a wonderful experience.”

Kris Jenner is also the mother of daughters Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney Kardashian with Robert Kardashian Sr., and later became the mother of Kendall and Kylie Jenner with Caitlyn Jenner.

Meanwhile, Rob continues to focus on fatherhood. This past summer, he appeared on sister Khloé’s podcast, Khloé in Wonderland, sharing insights about life with his 9-year-old daughter Dream, whom he shares with ex Blac Chyna.
