A new optical illusion has gone viral on TikTok, drawing comparisons to the infamous “black-and-gold dress.” Content creator Lexi Natoli (@yolkfather) shared an image that’s leaving viewers’ brains completely scrambled.
“Did you first see some weird pink slime dripping down, or did you immediately notice the forks?” Natoli asks in the video, which has already racked up nearly 6 million views.

Natoli admits that even she struggled at first:
“I thought it was some kind of pink alien goo. Then my husband looked at it and said, ‘It’s forks.’”
Comments are split between those who immediately spotted the cutlery and those who only saw strange pink streaks:
Fork-spotters:
“How do people not see the forks?”
“The forks are lying on a pink towel.”
“I can’t see anything but the forks.”
Pink-slime fans:
“I saw pink, like microfiber streaks… I only noticed the forks after you pointed them out.”
“Pink fluffy carrot-like things.”
“I swear there were no forks until you said something.”
“It took me forever to see the forks.”
This type of illusion is known as an ambigram or reversible figure — images designed to be interpreted in multiple ways. Classic examples include:
Rabbit-Duck: a single drawing can look like either a rabbit or a duck.
Rubin Vase: some see a black vase, while others see two white faces in profile facing each other.
The purpose of these illusions is to “trick” the brain, making viewers question their own perception.
