The Perfect Marriage Without the Risk of Divorce: Model Spends $50,000 on a Wedding to Herself

18:08, June 6

Bonnie Locket had terrible luck in love. After enduring a series of infidelities in romantic relationships that drove her to deep depression and thoughts of suicide, the OnlyFans model decided to take the most important step in her life.

She put on a $20,000 designer wedding dress and confidently said "I do" to the woman looking back at her in the mirror. "It was one of the best days of my life," the 38-year-old England native, who currently resides in Ibiza, told The Post.

The wedding ceremony took place on May 30. Bonnie's celebration featured only a few close friends, handwritten vows, and a luxurious 3-carat yellow diamond ring worth $27,000, which she slipped onto her own finger. With this, Locket officially solidified her union with herself, becoming part of the global sologamy movement.

While this union is purely symbolic and carries no legal weight, single people in their 30s around the world—from bustling New York to the sandy beaches of Ibiza—are increasingly choosing this path over the elusive "happily ever after" fairytale.

The sologamy movement is rapidly gaining momentum: thousands of dedicated hashtags are multiplying across Instagram and TikTok, and everyday women are spending fortunes on these kinds of celebrations. For instance, American Andria Johnson shelled out $5,000 for a wedding to herself in Tulum, Mexico, while Kshama Bindu became one of the first women in India to take this step. "I realized that I don't require a Prince Charming because I am my own queen," Bindu stated.

A Chronicle of Betrayal and Healing

For Bonnie Locket, this step became an opportunity to rise from the ashes after a failed marriage. "I was with my ex for 11 years, and we got married in 2023. Our marriage lasted only nine months before I found out he’d been cheating on me since the very first day of our relationship," the model confessed.

The breaking point in the relationship came with the news that her husband was secretly sleeping with her sworn enemy. Unable to survive such a betrayal, Bonnie packed her bags and left. However, immediately after the divorce, she entered a new relationship—and her next partner cheated on her as well.

Following this, the model gave up hope. She admits that she seriously contemplated suicide. Helping her pull through this living hell was her beloved dog, who suffers from epilepsy and became her primary emotional anchor. "I had been in relationships since I was 14. And this is the first time in my life that I've been absolutely alone, going through the most horrific pain," Locket shared candidly. "But over the past few months, I went to therapy, found support from friends and my dog, and learned to find happiness within myself. Previously, my self-esteem depended exclusively on the man who was by my side. Now I have learned to value myself on my own, and this transformation deserved a celebration."

The Ritual at the Altar: "I Was Already Whole"

The idea for the wedding came to her in April, when she spotted the ring of her dreams on social media. Bonnie decided not to wait for someone to gift it to her and bought it herself for $27,000. That was also when she remembered her luxurious Galia Lahav wedding dress worth $20,000, which she had worn three years prior, gathering dust in a suitcase. "I thought: what if I marry myself in this dress and turn a bad omen into a good one? I love myself, I love this ring, and I love this dress. Why wait for someone else?"

The ceremony was held on Cala d’Hort beach in Ibiza. In the presence of just eight guests and an officiant, Bonnie looked into a mirror set up at the altar and promised to love, honor, and cherish herself forever.
