Supermodel Paulina Porizkova has revealed why she chose not to wear a traditional white wedding dress when she married American screenwriter Jeff Greenstein.
The 61-year-old model, who tied the knot in Italy on July 3, told Vogue that her decision had nothing to do with the symbolism of wearing white. Instead, the reason was far more personal.
According to Porizkova, after spending decades modeling bridal gowns throughout her career, she wanted something completely different for her own wedding.
"I wanted to choose a color that almost wasn't a color. Something elusive, so no one could say, 'She wore yellow,' or 'She wore pink,'" she explained.
To create her custom look, Porizkova turned to New York fashion house House of Gilles. The gown was inspired by two iconic Hollywood looks: Grace Kelly's pale blue dress in To Catch a Thief and Lauren Hutton's ensemble at the 1975 Academy Awards.
The result was a sheer gown in an ethereal shade that Porizkova compared to water.
She said one of the wedding guests even described it as "the color of an element"—a hue that couldn't quite be put into words.
Porizkova completed the bridal look with a long veil, a fabric flower in her hair, and drop-shaped earrings that were gifted to her by her sons for her 60th birthday.
The marriage marks Porizkova's second. She was previously married to The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. She met her now-husband, screenwriter Jeff Greenstein, on a dating app in 2023, and the couple announced their engagement two years later.
