Cristiano Ronaldo is finally ready to walk down the aisle with longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez this weekend. The lavish celebration will take place on the very island where the legendary athlete grew up.
The 41-year-old football star and the 32-year-old model are set to exchange vows at the Cathedral of Funchal, before moving the party to the five-star Savoy Palace hotel for a grand reception.
Rumors had previously swirled that the couple planned to tie the knot last weekend at the Quinta da Regaleira estate in Sintra. However, those reports raised eyebrows when the historic estate remained completely open to tourists.
Now, according to The Sun, Ronaldo will indeed say “I do” at Funchal Cathedral—where ceremonies typically kick off at 3 p.m.—before the festivities shift to the Savoy Palace.
“Hotel guests have already been notified that two entire floors, as well as several bar areas, will be closed to the public on Friday and Saturday,” a source revealed.
Funchal is the soccer icon’s hometown and pride. The city boasts a bronze statue in his honor, and even one of the local hotels bears his name.
While Ronaldo’s net worth is estimated at a staggering $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion, choosing his hometown for the wedding is deeply symbolic. Growing up in poverty, Cristiano shared a single room with his brother and sisters before leaving home at age 11 to join Sporting CP’s youth academy.

Ahead of the highly anticipated nuptials, the couple has already touched down in Portugal, sparking plenty of buzz by flashing some serious ice.

Georgina recently shared new social media posts that prominently featured her massive diamond engagement ring. The model flaunted her enviable physique during a solo beach shoot, posted a sweet family snap with her groom-to-be and his 16-year-old son, Cristiano Jr., and dropped a beach selfie that put her dazzling ring front and center.
