She is an undisputed style icon and a muse to the world’s top fashion houses. Kim Kardashian is so fanatically dedicated to high fashion that she previously boasted about her ability to wear “literally anything.”
“I don’t care how uncomfortable I am, I don’t care how long I have to wear something. If I have to wear a diaper and not go to the bathroom — I don't care.”
Proving that her actions match her words, the 45-year-old reality star amused fans once again this week. Behind-the-scenes footage leaked from the premiere of the series All's Fair, where Kim made an entrance in a breathtaking metallic draped gown by Schiaparelli Couture.
The dress turned out to be so impractical that Kim couldn't even sit down normally — an assistant had to shove her into her chair sideways.
While that clip sparked laughs, Kim’s past wardrobe choices have repeatedly pushed her to dangerous extremes — risking her health through crash diets and suffering physical injury from hazardous garments.
Kim set her sights on a nearly impossible goal: squeezing into Marilyn Monroe's famous gold gown, in which the icon sang "Happy Birthday" to President Kennedy in 1962.

Three weeks before the Met Gala, Kim realized she couldn't fit into the $5 million museum artifact. Instead of abandoning the idea, she went on a brutal regimen, dropping 16 lbs (7.2 kg) in just 21 days.
“I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn't starve myself, but I was so strict,” she told Vogue.
Despite her efforts, the dress wouldn't zip up over her backside, forcing her to conceal the open zipper with a white fur shawl. She swapped into a replica for the actual party, but before-and-after photos later surfaced online, with fans pointing out fabric damage and missing crystals on the historical relic.

During Paris Fashion Week, Kim documented the painstaking process of squeezing into a second-skin latex suit by Balmain, requiring the help of several assistants.
Kim winced in pain on camera: “F***... My skin is hurting! I literally feel like I pulled a muscle in my shoulder. And I’m so thirsty!”
Layered under a latex jacket and gloves, she poked fun at her own predicament: “I’m going to be completely sealed in,” she joked while taking a tiny sip of water.
At the 2019 Met Gala, Kim shocked onlookers with a microscopic waist in a custom dripping-wet look by Thierry Mugler. Underneath, she wore a tightly laced corset for which she had to take special "breathing lessons."

“I’ve never felt pain like that in my life. I’ll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off — the indentations on my back and my stomach,” she later admitted to WSJ Magazine.
She couldn't sit or use the restroom all night. However, this agonizing experience served as the catalyst for launching her shapewear brand SKIMS, which prioritizes comfort and breathability.

Kim isn't just willing to sacrifice bathroom breaks — she'll sacrifice the ability to walk. Attending a Dolce & Gabbana event, she wore a form-fitting silver corset dress tightly laced up the back and sides.
The hem of the dress was so narrow that she couldn't take a single normal stride. Unfazed, the star — balancing on 4-inch heels — resorted to literally hopping up a flight of stairs while holding onto the handrail as her assistants attempted to lift the hem around her ankles.
At the Balenciaga show in Paris, Kim arrived wrapped head-to-toe in the brand’s signature yellow caution tape.

Footage of her walking instantly went viral, with critics comparing her stiff gait to the Terminator or Robocop. Fashion critic Vanessa Friedman noted:
“When she walks, Kim makes a sticky rustling sound. She told me: ‘I’m scared it’s going to rip when I sit down.’”

Wrapping her over a black jumpsuit required four assistants, and after the show, the outfit had to be literally cut off her body with scissors.
It isn't just clothing that causes injuries — footwear takes its toll too. In March, Kim tumbled on her way to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party while wearing golden Pleaser heels featuring an 8-inch heel and a 4-inch platform.
After misstepping and falling into a bush, Kim grabbed onto a bystander to break her fall: “Aaargh, sorry, my ankle! Crap, that poor woman, I just grabbed onto that elderly lady!”
Before stepping onto the red carpet, Kim instructed her team to tighten the straps as much as possible and walked arm-in-arm with a friend for balance right up until the cameras flashed.
