Madonna sets her sights on Angelina Jolie’s $29.85 million mansion — the Hollywood legend could soon have a new owner

11:38, August 28

Madonna has taken an interest in Angelina Jolie’s lavish Los Angeles mansion and appears to be seriously considering a return to the City of Angels. The singer has already taken a virtual tour of the property, which is currently on the market, although she is not in California at the moment.

Brokers arranged a video viewing of the estate for the 68-year-old pop icon after Jolie listed the property for $29.85 million in May.

Madonna’s interest in the mansion is hardly surprising. Several years ago, she sold her Los Angeles home, and now she appears to be considering a return to California. According to the New York Post, representatives for the singer reached out to the brokers themselves and arranged the viewing.

Jolie put the mansion on the market in May. It remains unclear whether the actress has purchased another property, however. According to a source, she has yet to decide exactly where she wants to live next.

For Madonna, a potential purchase would mark a return to her former life in Los Angeles. Just over three years ago, the singer sold her Hidden Hills estate for $23 million.

Today, Madonna’s real estate portfolio includes a sprawling complex of three connected townhouses on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a Georgian townhouse in London, an equestrian farm in Bridgehampton and property in Portugal.

A home steeped in Hollywood history

Jolie’s mansion is more than just a multimillion-dollar property — it is a genuine piece of Hollywood history. For more than half a century, it belonged to legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille and his family.

Jolie purchased the estate in June 2017 for $24.5 million, roughly nine months after filing for divorce from Brad Pitt. At the time, the actress said she planned to leave Los Angeles once her children were grown. Last month, her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turned 18.

The estate is located in the exclusive, gated Laughlin Park neighborhood, a celebrity favorite known for its privacy and lack of tourist buses.

The property’s history is even more fascinating. DeMille purchased the home in 1916 and expanded the estate in 1920 by acquiring the neighboring lot, which had once belonged to Charlie Chaplin. The two houses were connected by a glass gallery, although they were later separated again. The DeMille family retained the property until the late 1980s.

The main five-bedroom residence features a professional chef’s kitchen, a formal dining room with mahogany finishes, a spacious living room, arched windows and a library. The primary suite includes a marble fireplace, a separate sitting room, a spa-style bathroom, a dressing room and a walk-in closet, while French doors open directly onto the terrace.

The estate sits at the highest point of the gated Laughlin Park community, which is home to around 60 properties. Current and former residents have included Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart, Brie Larson, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. During Hollywood’s Golden Age, the neighborhood was also home to Carole Lombard and Lily Pons.
