Crypto billionaire and entrepreneur Justin Sun has sued Chinese actress Jing Tian and her parents, seeking the return of 30 million yuan (around $4.5 million) that he allegedly paid as a traditional bride price after the couple split earlier this year.

Sun’s lawyer, Zhang Qihuai, said a court in Xi’an has accepted the case, while the plaintiff has already applied for a preservation order — a legal measure intended to prevent the disputed assets from being transferred or disposed of. According to the lawyer, Sun and Jing dated for around seven months and seriously discussed getting married, but the relationship ended before they tied the knot. A hearing date has not yet been set.

Social Media Post and “Advice from AI”

The dispute became public after Justin Sun published a lengthy post on X titled “My Girlfriend Jing Tian,” in which he detailed their relationship, marriage plans and hopes of having children.

The post claimed that the couple had planned to have a child through surrogacy, after which the actress allegedly demanded an additional $50 million.

Notably, Sun included a disclaimer at the very end of the post stating that the content was “fictional.”

In an interview with Sing Tao Headline, the billionaire admitted that, at the height of the dispute, he sought advice from Anthropic’s Claude chatbot before ultimately deciding to reject the multimillion-dollar demand from his former partner. Sun added that he still is not sure whether the decision he made at the time was the right one.

Actress Responds as Legal Battle Unfolds

Jing Tian’s management said the dispute would be resolved strictly through legal channels and rejected attempts to pressure the actress by attacking her reputation.

The 38-year-old star, known for her roles in Hollywood blockbusters The Great Wall and Kong: Skull Island, responded emotionally to online critics on Weibo:

“I have never sold my love for money in the past, I am not doing so now, and I never will — let alone sell my soul,” the actress wrote. “I still believe in love. My ability to judge men is still lacking, and I still have much wisdom to gain. But I believe in the law, in kindness, and in the belief that justice and honesty will ultimately prevail. Time will put everything in its proper place.”

Justin Sun, 36, is the founder of the blockchain platform Tron, which he launched in 2017, and the head of a cryptocurrency empire. As of late August 2026, Forbes estimated his net worth at $8.5 billion.

Sun gained global fame beyond the crypto industry in November 2024, when he paid $6.2 million at a Sotheby’s auction in New York for Maurizio Cattelan’s infamous conceptual artwork Comedian — the banana duct-taped to a wall. The billionaire later triumphantly ate the fruit at a press conference in Hong Kong.
