To celebrate Carolina Herrera’s 45th anniversary, the brand’s creative director Wes Gordon turned to the glamorous aesthetic of the 1980s — an era that Carolina Herrera herself made an integral part of the fashion house’s DNA.

“I approached the Ladies Who Lunch image with a sense of irony — the atmosphere of the ’80s and Park Avenue. That’s our DNA, and it’s wonderful,” Gordon said.

The show took place at the David H. Koch Theater, which was transformed into a veritable blooming Park Avenue. A spectacular arrangement of 28,800 yellow tulips was placed between the runway and the guests. Among the star-studded attendees were Martha Stewart, Tory Burch, Pamela Anderson, Fran Lebowitz and Carolina Herrera herself, who wore a crystal-embellished blouse from one of her earliest collections.

For the new collection, Gordon reimagined Herrera’s signature style through contemporary silhouettes. The runway opened with black, white and vibrant yellow, followed by pistachio, soft pink, salmon and blue.

Polka dots, lace, tweed, chiffon, tailored jackets and pencil skirts gave way to luxurious voluminous gowns adorned with dramatic organza ruffles.

Standout looks included crisp white shirts paired with cigarette trousers, embroidered fringe jackets and playful brooches shaped like frogs and zebras.

The collection was also enriched by vibrant collaborations with the Andy Warhol Foundation, The New Yorker and jewelry house Taffin.

Color, precious sparkle, femininity and the sheer joy of beautiful clothes — Gordon turned Carolina Herrera’s anniversary into a true celebration of glamour.
