Cindy Crawford is struggling to come to terms with the devastating death of her son, Presley Gerber, who died at the age of 27.

“They were incredibly close,” a source told Page Six. “What you saw online and in the press wasn’t just a picture for the public. They really were a very close-knit family. Kaia and Presley were much more than just brother and sister. Cindy is completely devastated.”

According to another source, the 60-year-old supermodel is in an extremely difficult state.

“Cindy is inconsolable. She is completely shattered. This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and the family is still trying to process everything that has happened,” the source said.

Presley died on September 20 at a rehabilitation center in Santa Monica, California. According to Page Six, his death was reportedly caused by a suspected drug overdose. Sources cited by the outlet also claimed that he had entered the rehabilitation facility just days before his death.

Following the news of the tragedy, a representative for the family asked the media and the public to give the family “privacy during this extremely difficult and painful time.”

Presley Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, followed in his famous mother’s footsteps and worked as a model. For years, he also spoke openly about his struggles with addiction.

In 2018, Presley was arrested for driving under the influence after being pulled over for speeding in Beverly Hills. The following year, he pleaded no contest to the charge and was sentenced to three years of probation.

Gerber also spoke publicly about his opioid addiction and mental health struggles. He once described his battle with depression as “a 24/7 job.”

In March, Presley shared footage from a trip to Mexico, where he had traveled to continue working on his sobriety. During the trip, he underwent ibogaine treatment, involving a psychoactive substance derived from the root bark of the Tabernanthe iboga plant that is used in some addiction-treatment programs.

Earlier this year, Cindy Crawford publicly supported her son.

“You are a warrior! Walk through the fire to find yourself. I’m so proud of you!” the model wrote in a comment beneath one of his posts.

According to a source close to the family, Crawford had always been her son’s primary source of support and was deeply involved in his life.

“Cindy was incredibly involved in everything involving Kaia and Presley when they were growing up,” the source said. “She never missed a school event and always knew what was going on with her children.”

The source also said Crawford would have done everything possible to find the best rehabilitation facility for her son.

“I’m sure Cindy would have made sure her child was in the best facility. That’s the kind of mother she was. She was extremely involved in everything concerning her children,” the source said.

The family is not grieving alone. According to the Page Six source, Presley’s death has also been a devastating blow to his friends.

Presley was particularly close to his sister, Kaia Gerber. Sources cited by Page Six emphasized that the Gerber-Crawford family had always been extremely close-knit, and that the siblings supported each other not only as brother and sister but also as close friends.
