Sex Scandal in Congress: Lauren Boebert Accused of Affairs With Three Staffers, Including Two Women

Rep. Lauren Boebert has lashed out at reports about an ethics “complaint” alleging that she had sexual relationships with three staffers — including two women, according to the New York Post.

The 38-year-old Colorado Republican has categorically denied the allegations, stressing that they were made by political activist David Wheeler, who has repeatedly circulated questionable claims about her.

The divorced mother of four has previously denied similar allegations, stating that she is heterosexual.

“Hey, journalists! You all spread defamation and called it news. Some desperate, obsessed person signed a fake document under oath so that you could put perjury in your headlines,” Boebert said in a video posted on X.

“This is a fraud, and you fell for it. Not a single member of Congress has put in writing that this salacious lie was submitted in good faith and deserves consideration, as required by the House Ethics Committee’s rules,” she added.

The complaint alleges that Boebert had relationships with her former chief of staff, Clarice Navarro Ratliff, former chief of staff Jeffrey Small, and current chief of staff Raven Finegan.

All three have denied the allegations.

Boebert also claimed that despite Wheeler’s assertion that he had filed a “complaint” against her with the House Ethics Committee, the panel does not actually accept such complaints when they are filed less than 60 days before an election.

In addition, under the House Ethics Committee’s rules, a complaint filed by someone who is not a member of Congress must be certified by a member of Congress.

“The Ethics Committee doesn’t even have the authority to accept this garbage,” Boebert said angrily.

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, House rules prohibit lawmakers from engaging in sexual relationships with their staff.

At one point, Wheeler also alleged that Boebert and her former district-office chief of staff had a threesome with former Rep. Matt Gaetz, a friend of Boebert’s. Gaetz mocked the claims in response.

Wheeler, who heads the organization American Muckrakers, has claimed that his allegations are supported by anonymous sources, financial and other disclosures submitted to the House, as well as additional documents.

However, Wheeler has a history of making highly questionable allegations against Boebert, whom he has targeted for years. He previously acknowledged that his research was “sloppy” and contained numerous “inaccuracies.”

In 2022, he published allegations claiming that Boebert had previously worked as an escort. Observers soon noticed that his report had used photographs of another woman whom he identified as Boebert. The congresswoman at the time pointed to a CNN fact-check that debunked several claims made in the report.

Boebert also expressed outrage that the latest controversy had publicly dragged her staffer and former employees into the scandal.

“I understand that you’re willing to attack me and shame my family, but this is different — you’ve crossed a line. I hope that next time, before rushing to publish something without even the most basic fact-checking, you’ll think about how it could affect them and their families,” the congresswoman said.

Boebert has also previously spoken out about sex scandals involving other politicians.

“Go to church. Find Jesus. Why is everyone here so obsessed with sex?” she told reporters in April after allegations emerged against former Rep. Eric Swalwell, while former Rep. Tony Gonzales faced pressure to resign. Both controversies involved sexual allegations.

Three years ago, Boebert herself became embroiled in a high-profile scandal after she was filmed engaging in overly intimate behavior with her then-boyfriend, Quinn Gallagher, during a performance of “Beetlejuice” at a Denver theater.
