Princess Alexandra of Hanover continues to follow in the footsteps of her late grandmother, legendary Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco.

Grace Kelly, who died in a car accident in 1982 at the age of 52, had more than just one of the most recognizable wardrobes of her era. She became the embodiment of timeless elegance, continuing to inspire generations long after her death.

Now, 27-year-old Alexandra has proved that some pieces from her famous grandmother’s wardrobe still look flawless decades later. For an event last weekend, the princess chose a stunning gold dress that Grace Kelly first wore in 1962.

“Yellow mood in archival Givenchy,” Alexandra captioned a series of photos on Instagram.

The sleeveless yellow silk gown featured a rounded neckline and a fitted silhouette, embellished with intricate gold embroidery throughout. A long train cascaded softly across the floor, while countless beaded details shimmered with every movement.

The gown was specially created by Givenchy for Grace Kelly. Legendary designer Hubert de Givenchy and the Princess of Monaco were not only close creative collaborators but also friends, making Alexandra’s appearance in the archival dress particularly symbolic.

Grace Kelly first wore the gown on May 14, 1962, at the wedding of the future King Juan Carlos of Spain and Princess Sophia of Greece and Denmark in Athens. The couple later became King and Queen of Spain.

Unlike her grandmother, Alexandra opted for a more modern and minimalist approach. She accessorized the gown with several gold bracelets and a delicate pendant, while her yellow diamond engagement ring served as the centerpiece of the look.

Grace Kelly, meanwhile, chose a far more dramatic styling for the occasion. She paired the gold gown with a wide ribbon belt, long satin gloves reaching to her elbows and an array of dazzling diamonds.
