Casio has unveiled the most expensive G-Shock in its history — the MRGD5000 Blue Sapphire, priced at $80,000. The price puts the model in the same league as a Rolex Pearlmaster 86348 or a BMW M2.
The new timepiece joins the Blue Rose collection and features a case made from blue sapphire crystal. The watch is complemented by 24-karat gold details and lettering. Sapphire is highly resistant to scratches, but its use makes the manufacturing process considerably more challenging: achieving a consistent color and pattern across all the case components is no easy feat.

The watch features Casio’s signature Multi-Guard Structure, solar power and water resistance. The development process took a full eight years.
The G-Shock’s exclusivity is further enhanced by its extremely limited production run: Casio will make just 20 pieces, scheduled for release in December.
For fans of blue who are looking for more affordable options, the brand is also offering the MRGB5000SA for $6,600 and the GMWB5000SB for $770.
