Salma Hayek has long proved that her real life could rival any Hollywood screenplay. The 60-year-old actress has not only taken on dozens of memorable roles, including Frida and From Dusk Till Dawn, but has also become part of one of France’s most powerful families.

The combined fortune of Hayek and her husband, businessman François-Henri Pinault, is estimated at around $15 billion. Pinault is the chairman and CEO of luxury conglomerate Kering, which owns Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen. The family also owns the renowned auction house Christie’s and the legendary Château Latour wine estate.

The couple met in 2006 through a mutual acquaintance connected to Gucci. At first, Hayek did not even want to go on the date because she mistakenly assumed she was being introduced to a much older man named François. But the meeting went ahead — and a romance soon blossomed between them.

Their relationship was not without complications. Around the same time, Pinault’s former girlfriend, supermodel Linda Evangelista, learned she was pregnant and gave birth to their son, Augustin, in 2006. In 2007, Hayek and François-Henri welcomed their daughter, Valentina. In 2008, the couple briefly split, but they soon reunited.

In 2009, Hayek and Pinault had a lavish wedding in Venice. The celebrations began with a masquerade ball before continuing with a ceremony at the famous Teatro La Fenice opera house. In 2018, the couple renewed their vows in Bora Bora.
