Meghan Markle’s Father Admits Paying for Sex and Denies Allegations of Child Sexual Abuse

11:05, October 26

Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., has admitted paying for sex during trips to the Philippines but has categorically denied allegations of sexual abuse involving minors. His statement comes amid an investigation following the reported discovery of suspected child sexual abuse material at his former home, as well as a controversy surrounding the actions of British police, who received a letter containing allegations as far back as 2019.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, 82-year-old Thomas Markle said he had visited the Philippines at least twice before moving there and had sexual relations with women whom he paid for sex.

“I like Asian women, but that is not a crime,” he said.

Markle stressed, however, that he had never had sexual relations with anyone under the age of 18. He also denies possessing child sexual abuse material, describing the allegations as false. According to his account, if such material was indeed found among his belongings, it may have been planted. Markle said he was willing to have his electronic devices examined.

What Was Found at Markle’s Former Home?

The controversy erupted after Thomas Markle’s eldest son, Thomas Markle Jr., reportedly discovered boxes containing suspected child sexual abuse material while sorting through his father’s belongings at his former home in Cebu, the Philippines. According to The Sun, the material may have included hundreds or even thousands of images. Reports also say that Thomas Jr. contacted US authorities and reached out to the FBI in July.

On October 25, Philippine Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that police had found suspected material of this kind at the property, along with a laptop. The device is undergoing forensic examination. According to the secretary, the results were expected within a week, after which authorities would be able to assess whether there were sufficient grounds to bring charges. Philippine police have also said they intend to coordinate the investigation with their counterparts in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The discovery of the material alone does not establish who owned it or who accessed it. Thomas Markle denies any involvement in the alleged crime, and the final conclusions will depend on the outcome of the investigation.

Why Has the British Police Become Involved in the Controversy?

A separate controversy has emerged over a letter received by London police in January 2019. Scotland Yard confirmed that the document contained allegations of possible offences committed outside the United Kingdom. The letter was passed to the unit responsible for protecting members of the royal family and was subsequently forwarded to representatives of Meghan and Prince Harry. However, the information was not shared with other law enforcement agencies. Police are now reviewing their handling of the matter and considering whether an independent oversight body should examine their actions.

Meghan previously said that she had learned of troubling allegations against her father several years ago and had been assured that they were being investigated. She said her desire to protect her own children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, was the reason she did not allow Thomas to have contact with them.

The Last Letter to His Daughter

According to The Sun and subsequent reports by People and The Independent, Meghan sent her father a letter in December 2025, when Thomas Markle was in hospital in the Philippines following a leg amputation. Sources cited by the publications claim that Meghan told her father she was aware of the allegations, would not allow him to meet his grandchildren and did not intend to write to him again. The full text of the letter has not been independently verified.

On October 23, Meghan publicly responded to the latest reports, saying she was deeply disturbed by what had happened and was thinking first and foremost about the children who may have been harmed. She expressed hope that the investigation would lead to justice and that the safety of minors would remain the top priority.
