Kim Kardashian has shared touching memories of her final conversations with her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., who died of cancer in 2003. In the new biography Citizen Kim, the star revealed the words he spoke shortly before his death and what he asked her to do before he passed away.

“The last thing my dad said to me was, ‘I know you’re going to be okay. I can see it. It’s like I can already see what your whole life is going to look like,’” Kim recalls in journalist Jonathan Van Meter’s book. Us Weekly reports on the account, also publishing excerpts from the biography.

According to Kardashian, her father was already very weak and spoke with pauses. During their final conversation, they lay next to each other on the couch watching a movie. Robert placed his hand on her leg and added, “You’re going to be okay. But take care of everyone else. And make sure your brother is okay.”

Kim also described her final goodbye to her father. When Robert could barely communicate, she thanked him for everything he had taught her, from how to be a good person to helping her with her homework. She admitted that she wanted to carry his lessons into her own life and pass them on to her children.

Soon afterward, a priest warned the family that Robert did not have much time left. According to the priest, he seemed to be holding on while his daughters were still by his side, and it was time for his loved ones to say goodbye. Kim then left the house, and about half an hour later, while at her friend Brandy Norwood’s home, she received a phone call. She recalls immediately understanding what the call would tell her.

Robert Kardashian Sr. died in September 2003 at the age of 59 after battling esophageal cancer. He was a prominent attorney who was part of O. J. Simpson’s defense team during the high-profile 1995 trial.

Kim has often said that her father influenced her interest in law. In 2019, she recalled that Robert believed she had the potential to become a good lawyer, although he warned her that the profession involved considerable stress and responsibility.

Judging by Kardashian’s recollections, her father’s final words were not only a farewell but also a lasting message: to take care of her family and continue on her own path.
