Pretty Little Liars costars Lucy Hale and Ian Harding are reuniting in Hulu’s The 12 Dates of Christmas, and PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at the new holiday rom-com. And this time, their romance will have fewer red flags.

In the exclusive trailer above, Hale plays Christina, a shop owner who’s put her love life on the back burner, much to her parents’ (Penelope Ann Millerand Paul Ben-Victor) chagrin, especially during the holidays.

“We’re just worried you’re going to be alone for the rest of your life,” her mom says in the clip after a Christmas Eve dinner where she optimistically set an extra seat at the table in the hopes that Christina would bring someone.

“I’m making a pledge,” Christina responds. “I am never going to be single on Christmas Eve ever again.”

Fast forward nine months, and Christina’s best friend Molly (St. Denis Medical’s Kahyun Kim) points out that the holidays are around the bend and Christina is still single. But she has a plan: “You, my friend, are going to go on 12 dates in 12 weeks, so by Christmas Eve, you’ll be storming into your parents’ house with a man on your arm,” she says.

A string of bad dates immediately follows: A guy in a fur vest who orders her granola and offers her an edible, another who tries to live-stream their date, one who gets arrested, and a handful who bring +1s along, from their mom to their dog to their ventriloquist’s dummy.

“I’m going on these dates, date after date, each one is worse than the other, and why? Why am I doing this? For my mom?” Christina complains. “Two more dates, and if I haven’t met someone who is not completely insane by then, I am done dating for good.”

Finally, Peter Grant (Harding) enters the conversation, and he catches Christina in his arms as she’s battling an oversized candy cane. But it appears he’s seeing someone.

How they’ll wind up together remains to be seen, but this time, “we play the same age,” Hale, 37, noted on TikTok, referring to her high school-aged Pretty Little Liars character Aria dating her teacher, Ezra, played by Harding, 40, throughout the hit series.

The pair appear to be having fun with the reunion: “A little older and wiser but the same two idiots!” Hale wrote on Instagram alongside a video of them recreating a photo from PLL.
