The official opening of the New Wave 2014 song contest was held Tuesday in Jūrmala, Latvia.  Aside from the performances by the Russian music celebrities, the event stage also became the venue for the draw to determine the order of the competition performances for the second and the third day of the festival. 

On Wednesday, which is the first day of competition, the young singers will perform world hits, whereas their respective countries’ hits, on Thursday.    

Sona Rubenyan, who represents Armenia at the New Wave 2014 song contest, on Wednesday and Thursday will perform tenth and sixth, respectively.  

 A distinguished panel of judges will evaluate the young performers.
