First look at ‘Leonardo’ TV series mini-series with Aidan Turner (Poldark) as the Italian artist and inventor Leonardo da Vinci in his youth is already available, Variety reported.

The first glimpse shows him learning his craft as a young apprentice and then reaching for greatness with his commission to paint The Last Supper.

The show starred: Giancarlo Giannini (Italian actor plays Leonardo’s master Andrea del Verrocchio), Matilda De Angelis (Caterina da Cremona, his dearest friend and muse), Freddie Highmore (detective Stefano Giraldi) and others.

The directors are Daniel Percival and Alexis Sweet. The script was written by Frank Spotnitz and Steve Thompson.

The TV series is expected to be released this year on the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, but the premiere was postponed until next year.
