Actor Tom Cruise handed back his Golden Globes to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) in protest of the lack of racial diversity among the awards jury, Deadline reported.
In February 2021, the Los Angeles Times found out that among the nearly 100 members of the HFPA, the organizer of the award, there is no black person. The roadmap was prepared even a little earlier than the deadline - and immediately accepted by the HFPA participants.
In addition to making other changes, the organization has pledged to recruit at least 20 new members this year, with a particular focus on black-based choices, a premium.
Earlier, NBC, which traditionally broadcasts the Golden Globe Awards, canceled the show in 2022 for the same reasons.
