The first press conference of the Junior Eurovision 2022 Song Contest was held today, December 8, at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.

Martin Osterdahl, Executive Director of Junior Eurovision, and Hovhannes Movsisyan, Executive Director of the Public TV Company, spoke about the organizational work of the contest and its development. Osterdahl was very happy that the Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place, despite some difficulties. Every year the popularity and distribution of "Junior Eurovision" grows, he said.

The contest reveals new talents every year. Osterdahl praised the stage and the excellent job done by the host broadcaster. He expressed his joy that the contest is growing year by year. "We have been preparing for Junior Eurovision for a long time, since last December, when the negotiations began. We have come a long way with our partners. We agreed with our European partners to work as a team, and I can say with confidence that it worked out for us," added Hovhannes Movsisyan, executive director of the public broadcaster.

According to him, hundreds of specialists were involved in organizing Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan: "Not only our colleagues from the European Union helped us, but also professionals from a number of European countries. At the moment everyone is working in Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex so that what we will see on December 10 and 11 will be really memorable, and I think it will work for us."

To make the 20th anniversary of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest more memorable, the winners of the different years were invited to Armenia and they performed at the opening ceremony held in Republic Square, they will also take part in the main show. Tickets to the contest were sold in two stages. Sales took place not only in Armenia, but also abroad.

"The number of people who wanted to watch Junior Eurovision from the audience was very high, but unfortunately the number of seats was limited. We decided to sell tickets in two stages, so that viewers could also buy tickets from abroad, and we had announced the sale of the first stage in abroad earlier. In the end, it turned out that demand was very high. Due to major technical work, the number of seats in the auditorium has been reduced, which is also one of the reasons why there are few seats. We're sorry about that, but that's the objective reality. This was also one of the reasons why we held the opening ceremony, so that everyone who wanted to attend the Junior Eurovision events could come to Republic Square," Movsisyan added.

Referring to the large-scale competition, the Executive Director of the Public Television said: "It is a good opportunity for us to show the world that Armenia can host large-scale events and hold them at a high level. This is very important, and the 20th anniversary of Junior Eurovision is also an occasion for the show to become more original."

The main concert of Junior Eurovision 2022 will take place on December 11 at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. It will be preceded by a show for the jury, which will take place on December 10. It is a presentation of the same concert program with one difference - the actual winner of the competition is not determined on the given day.

This year, the hosts of "Junior Eurovision" will be Iveta Mukuchyan, Garik Papoyan, Karina Ignatyan and the first Armenian robot Robin. For the first time in the history of the contest, one of the presenters is a device with artificial intelligence.

From Armenia, 14-year-old Nare Ghazaryan will perform at "Junior Eurovision 2022" with her DANCE! song under number 15.
