The epic film about World War I, "All Quiet on the Western Front", won seven awards at the British Academy Film Awards 2023, including best film. The film also won awards for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Non-English Language Film and Best Director by Edward Berger.
The film thus broke Bafta's record for the most awards received by a non-English language film.
"The Banshees of Inisherin" was among the other big winners, winning the award for Outstanding British Film and two acting prizes.
Actor Austin Butler won the award for Best Actor, beating out favorite Colin Farrell. The actor could barely hold back tears as he paid tribute to Elvis Presley's family, accepting the award after embodying the King of Rock in Baz Luhrmann's biographical film "Elvis."
Cate Blanchett won the award for best actress for her role in "Tar."
