She says "Good morning" to you every day and immediately passes her positive energy from the opposite side of the screen. The Emmy winning anchor Araksya Karapetyan is popular among Americans and Armenians who are watching FOX 11’s Good Day LA. In our column ArmenՅԱՆs, Araksya had shared her story, telling us about her Armenian roots and childhood in Gyumri. But we're sure there are still a lot of facts to discover about the beloved TV journalist. NEWS.am STYLE shares some more 20 facts about Araksya Karapetyan.

Araksya, how does your morning usually begin?
Wake up and go! I get dressed and do my hair and make up at work-so it takes me ten minutes to head out the door. I have everything ready to go to leave early and not make noise at home.
As soon as I wake up, I start listening to news to see what happened overnight and what's happening now to catch up.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee-Nespresso machine in my office. I do a double espresso with lots of oat milk!
How do you like to spend your free time?
What free time? (laughs). I don't really have free time... Always on the go with work, event in the community- and anytime I have, it is dedicated to my kids and family. The only me time I would say I get every day, is 30 mins to workout at home. I have made a point to make that happen.

Favorite word in Armenian?
People ask me that all the time and I don’t have one…. I should work on getting one I guess.
Favorite Armenian dish?
Anything my grandma and mom make. Right now I am typing this and eating dolma with yogurt! (thanks tatik [i.e., grandma])
Favorite places in Armenia?
One of my favorite things to do in Armenia is go to the bazaar. I love walking around and listening to people interact. Great place to people watch.
Favorite or most used word in English?
For me… daily at work I say "Good morning, thank for joining us."
At home… "hayeren asa" (constantly telling my kids to speak Armenian).
I am a broken record and tired to hearing myself repeat that line.

The brightest memory from Armenia?
My entire childhood is one amazing gift wrapped in a beautiful red, blue, orange bow. I have fond memories of my daily walks with my grandparents in the park… or playing in the backyard under the apricot tree… or on the roof of the garage where “tut” [i.e., mulberry] grew … or climbing the cherry tree… It is always the simple things that looking back make me smile.
Favorite movie?
I love movies…. Watch lots of movies… especially documentaries. But can’t go wrong with the classic Godfather (though to tell between 1 or 2).
Favorite book?
I took an entire course on Russian literature in college and read so many books.
Dr. Zhivago, Anna Karenina, Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov are my favorite classics. Also really loved the Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.

Favorite Holliday?
Love holidays… Right when [American] Thanksgiving begins …. All the way until New Year's day. There is warm in the air and so much to look forward to.
3 words that describe you the best?
Ambitious … Empathetic… Independent.
Your hobbies.
I don’t really have any… All my time is spent working or with family. Don’t have time for much else these days.
Talent/talents about which people don’t know?
I have no idea… Don’t think I have any unknown talent (or talents).
Do you have or had any nicknames among your friends?
Yes….
If not journalist, what profession would you choose?
Often I wonder… This is it for me. It was meant to be… But maybe an author or documentarian – anything where I am telling stories.

What you’ll never forgive in life?
It is hard for me to get over someone disappointing me.
The craziest thing you ever did?
Well... I, certainly, wont be sharing that!
Thing you’ll never do?
Anything that puts my life on the line; Bungee jump… skydive… swim with sharks… No interest in going to the Moon either. I am good on Earth. And also I am claustrophobic - I freak out if my head gets stuck in my sweater.
The most memorable interview you did?
I was just thinking about Stan Lee today for some reason. I was thinking about how he said people ask him all the time when he will retire…and he would say – “People retire to do what they love. I am already doing that.”
