Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed that she wasn't the motivation behind Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Academy Awards, Daily Mail writes. 

At the 2022 Oscars, Will strode onto the stage and slapped Chris after the comedian cracked a joke about Jada looking like 'G.I. Jane' because of her bald head, when she had recently revealed that was suffering from alopecia. 

Viewers were quick to point the finger at Jada, claiming she had sent a signal to Will when she rolled her eyes at the gag. 

Yet speaking on Steven Bartlett's The Diary Of A CEO podcast, Jada explained that she had nothing to do with the situation. 

Laughing off the theories she explained: 'I didn't think that he actually made contact with Chris, it looked like he ducked it. Even if it was it was [a signal] I can't force Will to do anything!'

She continued: 'I knew I was going to get blamed but I didn't think that it was going to be... I mean it was insane but I knew it was going to be a storm.' 

Asked if she saw Will's actions as 'an act of love' Jada - who was separated from Will at the time of the slap - mused: 'It's a really complicated moment it's a really complex moment. 

'I would say yes and no. I definitely think [it was] in his way but it was so much more.  It wasn't about me, that's why it's complex. 

'It was about a lot more than that moment, a lot more than just me. 

'There was a lot that was stirring up for him at that time because of Emancipation [Will's film] and he and Chris have their own history and it's a deep one.'

The Magic Mike XXL star revealed last week that she and Will, 55, secretly separated seven years ago and have been living apart.
