Halle Berry is passionate about her menopause and talks about it publicly—this time on the steps of the Capitol, where she spoke in support of raising awareness about it.
The actress took the podium surrounded by US senators who introduced a bill that would considerably increase funding and resources for this issue. Holly spoke about her own experience of menopause. She noted that her doctor was hesitant to even talk to her about menopause. Doctors don't have a good understanding of menopause and the stigma associated with it, she said. That's why she wants to start the conversation and believes this new bill can help all women. The bill is called the Enhancing Menopause Care and Midlife Women's Health Act and includes $275 million.
However, the reaction to Berry's menopause announcement—and to this bill in general—has been a bit mixed. Some believe that it is simply not that serious and does not deserve such attention.
